LinkedIn to Better Business

by Harris Cohen, The PromoGuru

Small business can now make the most out of their LinkedIn pages!

“Company Skills” has been around for a bit, but is one of the more straight-forward marketing approaches on LinkedIn. Businesses can showcase company info, announcements, and products photos, as well as post endorsements, similar to the personal recommendations made between connections. It’s like a graphics-rich resume for your business.

Included in the new features is “TextIn”, which gives users the ability to search and receive profile results through text messaging. You provide your mobile number to LinkedIn, authorize the app, and then via text you can search for a connection on LinkedIn. The results come back as another text message.
However, you should probably have a great messaging plan for this one. Or go through GoogleVoice or WhatsApp. Your call, so to speak.

“Signal” allows users to search, using a company name or keyword, through public status updates. Results can be constricted to subgroups, such as competitors. “It’s a tool for monitoring responses to news, as well as your company’s image in general,” said LinkedIn spokesperson Krista Canfield.

LinkedIn “Skills” gages the frequency that particular skills are entered into personal profiles. This feature empowers you to determine which skills are booming in your industry, as well as how they relate to your business. If the feature shows that more and more people are adding a certain skill set to their experience, that could indicate an industry movement. Your business could seek potential hires based on those skills.
