HP intends to change the way you shop for apps. With the release of their tablet, the TouchPad, they will also introduce an exclusive magazine called Pivot, available and updated only via the tablet’s wi-fi.
The magazine will be devoted to showcasing a wide array of apps, and the developers behind them. Customers will be able to explore the content based on their interests and lifestyles. Content, which includes editorial pieces, columns on digital culture, feature stories, and in-depth reviews, will be provided by journalists and photographers associated with several established and respected print publications, including New York Times and Fast Company.
According to an HP press release, the magazine will be published initially in English, French, German and Spanish. Special content will be tailored to different regional markets.
Pivot will be free for TouchPad users and come out in monthly installments to start. It is not clear whether paid advertising will also be included in the magazine.
The wi-fi only tablet is set to be released on July 1 in the U.S., available in 16 and 32 Gigabyte versions.
